Traditional Czech Desserts

We all know the famous Czech pastry, Trdelnik, but the Czech Republic has much more to offer!

Buchty

These are little buns that are filled with fruit jam, poppy seeds, sweet cheese or sweet cottage cheese with raisins. The yeast is light and soft – yum!

Věneček

This is another sweet you should consider trying out. It reminds us of a doughnut but is divided into two slices with vanilla custard in between.

Koláče

This pastry is a small round dough with different sweet fillings. It may be sweet cottage cheese or some jam, for example. Pretty simple but yet delicious. Very Czech – a must-try!

Medovník

This one is a traditional Czech cake. It contains honey and is layered. It has two types of cream in between the layers. Medovník has a soft texture, not too sweet and is great as a dessert!

Větrník

Some may wonder why this pastry is not famous as it is absolutely delicious! It is a choux round-shaped pastry with vanilla or caramel cream as a filling and a glaze on top! Give it a try!
