Family theatre performance based on the book by Petr Síse “The Wall or How I Grew up behind the Iron Wall”. Our past stays with us and is alive. This show is about hope which we shouldn’t loose.

The book is an autobiography and is known worldwide. It is about 1948-1989, the time of communism and socialism, when the Czechoslovakia was behind the “iron wall”. It is about the life of people living at that time, about their dreams and the need of freedom. Petr Sís wants both parents and kids to understand that time better.

This performance is a musical and visual grotesque about the past. The story is addressed to the kids and told by a boy who likes colours, music and silence, believe in dreams and has a hope.

Artists are trying to be closer to kids and in order to achieve that, they are using animation, comics and puppets. They are trying to encourage a discussion with teachers and parents on pressure and freedom topics.

„This is my message from the past but also a warning of what might happen again. Walls are being built still, it could be Israel, Mexican border or Ústí nad Labem.“ – Petr Sís
