Throughout the Christmas Holiday Season, there are various Concerts at the St Giles Church in Prague. St. Giles Church has a unique baroque-romantic organ from the 18th century. The organ has 3,500 pipes and is known for its exceptional sound. It is among the favourite concert instruments of leading Czech and foreign musicians. Milos Forman used the interior of the church in his movie Amadeus.
Dvořák Symphony Orchestra (chamber cast)
The chamber orchestra will be joined by organ, soprano and violin
The Dvořák Symphony Orchestra was founded in the 1960s on the initiative of top musicians. Its current members are also leading players in the most renowned Czech orchestras (Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Prague Symphony Orchestra, National Theatre Orchestra and others). The orchestra has performed in most European countries, the USA, Japan and South Korea.
All the concerts begin at 16:30 hours and last for 65 minutes. The dress code is casual and the seating is Open seating on a first-come-first=served basis. During the winter, the interior of the church is heated, but it is recommended that you dress in warm clothing when attending the concerts.
