School lessons were to be digitized in 5 years, but now it will have to be done within a few weeks!

The project SYPO (System support for teachers and school principals) presented by the national pedagogic institute of the Czech Republic started offering a series of educational webinars for teachers in mid-March. It aimed to show them the various options they have, in on-line teaching. The webinars are free for every professional and include optional consultations with a tutor. Interestingly, before the COVID-19 pandemic, there was hardly any interest and now the courses have thousands of followers.

Modification of Measures Concerning Ban of Visitors in Health and Social Institutions

The Ministry of Health has modified the measures concerning the current ban of visitors in health and social institutions. Following a meeting with Czech labour and gynaecology department of ČLS JEP, the ministry of health has decided to modify the rules of the earlier announced temporary measures involving the ban of any visitors to any health institutions with hospital beds or any care homes during the outbreak of COVID-19.

Why do children appear to be less affected by COVID-19?

Better immune system or frequent exposure to illnesses might be some of the reasons why children seem less affected by the new coronavirus that spread from China to 80 countries. The majority of the patients are older people. Among the 3400 casualties there are so far no victims under the age of 9. According to NBC TV station, scientists have no clear understanding why the virus behaves in this way.

TV Service Disney+ has been launched in Europe.

On Tuesday, March 24, the American media and filming company Walt Disney has launched its new streaming TV service Disney+ in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria and Switzerland. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, which results in high internet usage, the launch in France has been shifted by two weeks.  Initially, Disney’s services will be streamed in lower quality.

Special Filter on 3D Printer Being Developed in CZ

Health Minister, Adam Vojtěch has just Tweeted that CTU experts have developed a respirator (Face mask) on a 3D printer. The special filter lasts about a week. It offers higher protection than FFP3. Health Ministry has agreed to start delivering them to university hospitals. They are fine-tuning the details and starting next week, they could start producing up to 10,000 units a day!
