It’s that time of the year – your child’s birthday! Well, if you’re child is lucky enough to have a summer birthday, it’s clearly half the job done! Organizing a children’s birthday outdoors is really very easy and absolutely fun.
Here’s why!
More activities
The sheer simplicity of being outdoors offers a lot more activities for kids. Have a race, or a football game, have it in a park with a playground. If you like noise and mess – go for water play. Trust me kids love to have fun in water.
Saves money
The venue typically is for free if you have the party in a park or playground. Plus, you can save costs on décor and party supplies. Despite being a free location, there is always sufficient space for a lot of parents who may accompany kids! There’s also space to accommodate siblings.
Sitting down space
Kids can easily sit on a picnic mat while adults can bring their own camping chairs and tables. Adults too can sit on the mats. There’s enough space for everyone!
Less mess to clean
Yes! There’s not much to clean later. Just pack the leftover and dump the trash in a bin! You’re all set.
What to plan for a birthday picnic
Food and drinks
Don’t skimp here. Really! It’s usually a warm day and everyone drinks a lot. Make sure there’s loads of lemonade, juice and water with ice. For food keep it simple but provide sufficiently. Usually, people eat a lot when outdoors. We suggest fruit platters, cool salads, sandwiches, popcorn, and cake.
Party décor
The décor can simple be a coloured themed mat for everyone to sit on. And of course, matching disposable plates to go with it.
Cake
People love cake. So, make sure to order it in advance and ensure that the frosting or décor can stay out in the sun at least an hour. No one like s a melted cake!
Games for kids
The ideal game for a picnic party is a scavenger hunt. Visit the park early to make a list of objects all over the park. Make copies and distribute. Once the child ticks off all the objects on her list, they get a party favor. My favourite one is the lemon and spoon race. Each child gets a spoon, and a lemon to balance on it. The one who doesn’t drop the lemon is a winner!
The best part is, that parents can join the kids in all these games and it’s great fun.
