The government has issued a statement to close down all schools starting Wednesday, March 11. This has been done in order to safeguard children’s health in the Czech Republic. Schools will remain closed until further notice.
The government also bans hosting events with over 100 people to contain the virus. Prime Minister Andrej Babis has said that the health of the citizens is the priority and he wants to prevent what has happened in Italy.
The new measures close schools and universities starting March 11. Although there is no ban yet on kindergartens.
The Czech Republic has already banned visits to retirement homes and hospitals. The government has also enforced a mandatory quarantine for people returning from Italy or other infected regions. Flights to Italy have now been stopped until further notice.
