On October 21, over 6500 people rushed to visit Aquatis – Lausanne’s very own aquarium-vivarium that opened after 15 years in planning.
Aquatis is a unique concept in Switzerland and in Europe. It stages live animals with a totally immersive and interactive scenography using innovative digital technologies. It is both a recreation area, an environmental education centre and a platform for exchanges.
The set up hosts 10000 fish, 2 million litres of fresh water, 46 aquariums, vivariums, terrariums, 20 different ecosystems and 100 reptiles and amphibians. The Aquatis Foundation is seeking to make it the most important place of scientific culture in Switzerland focusing on the theme of fresh water.
The price for tickets is about 25 euros for adults and 16 euros for children over the age of 5 years. More details about the aquarium can be found here
