The first week of school is always busy for parents, teachers and students. We’re all busy with books, teacher meetings and orientations at school.
Here are five easy things not related to school, that make back-to-school easy
Haircut
Trust me, within the first two weeks of school, your child will be ready for his next haircut. And among, school supplies and meetings, it’s going to be hard to get a haircut in. It’s always ideal to get an early appointment before school starts, and get them all groomed for school. If you get a summer cut like I usually do before school, you can easily wait three weeks for the next one, giving loads of time for school to settle down!
Check nails
Just like the haircut, nails grow too! Cutting nails just before school has two advantages. You needn’t worry about the nails for the next three weeks after school starts. And second, it reduces dirt or bacteria getting accumulated under the nails, keeping kids relatively germ free in terms of hands. Of course they still need to keep washing them.
Try on clothes for sizes
There are so many times, when I’ve checked my kids’ clothes a day or two before school and my kids have outgrown them. Well, it’s always best to try clothes ideally two weeks before school begins, right in the middle of summer so you know what you need to buy. Last minute clothes shopping for kids among other things can be quite stressful and annoying.
Declutter old stuff
We all quickly get new stuff for school. But how many of us actually go through and sort out the old stuff from the previous years of school? I always feel I have two months to get it done, and at the end of summer, a day before school, I find no space in the closets and shelves for the new school materials. So, take time out to get rid of all and used materials from the previous years and prep for the new school year’s stuff.
Get that flu shot!
This one’s taught me the hard way. Imagine one child sick in just three days of school and the other needs to be dropped and picked up with a sick child in tow! Well, the flu shot is your solution!
