Does your child have a messy room?

There’s always a time when rooms are messy. But there are things you can do about kids’ messy rooms. Yes, shutting the door is one of them. But otherwise, here are some tips

Get yourself organized.
Kids tend to ape the parents. So, if we are slack, they go slack too. If you tend to postpone cleaning till guests arrive, they do too!

Explain the importance of keeping things in their place.
‘If you always leave your football gloves in the lower drawer, instead of all over the house, it actually might be easier to find them, when you’re in hurry to go out and play!’

Have a dedicated clean-up time
Agree on two times a day when your child has to clean up. This will not only bring routine, but also help him control the mess. It can just be for 5-10 mins. But something is put in order if not all.

Have them know the consequences
‘If you leave leftovers in your room for days, it will grow mould and make the air unhealthy and smelly.’

Get rid of old stuff
The one thing I’ve learnt about kids is that they outgrow them but parents don’t. They toy your 7-year-old loved to play with when he was one, is adorable still, but is just junk for him now. Go over old and outdated things with your child and give them away or recycle them.

Downsize
I know a lot of us an afford a lot of things. But lowering your budget can help lessen the things we own from wants to needs. And this can enormously reduce clutter!

Make cleaning and organizing a priority
Every night before you go to bed, make sure you are prepared for the morning. Kitchen’s tidy, living room’s tidy, clothes set out for the next day – and insist that your child do the same. This makes for a fresh new clean start each day.
