Day trip to Zlín Zoo and Castle Lešná

The summer vacation is the perfect time to take some time off and go out of Prague to explore other places. This fun day trip is perfect for animal lovers of all ages.

Located in the city of Zlín about 3 hours out of Prague, are the Zlín Zoo and Lešná Castle. The zoo was opened in 1948, and it is the most visited tourist destination in Moravia. The zoo offers an impressive variety of exotic animals, such as penguins, tapirs, sea lions, giraffes, lions, elephants, red pandas and more. In addition to all this, the zoo offers a rope labyrinth, a zoo train, canopy tour ‘Lanacek’ and a children’s playground with wooden castles, slides and pony riding. There are many places where you can take some rest and get a cold drink or a snack. You can also purchase a guided tour.

In case you’d also like to visit the castle, you will see uniquely decorated walls and ceiling, custom-made wooden carvings, spacious lounges, a chapel and the Hall of Ancestors. In the library you will also be able to see a wonderful collection of arts, collected by the castle’s owners in the 1930s.

How to get there:
By car: Take on Route D1/E50 , take exit 17 to Route 432, Route 490 and Route 491 to Zlín
Alternatively, you can take on Route 11 and then Route 35. The trip should last for about 3 and a half hours. There is free parking at the zoo.

Prices vary between 40 CZK – 80 CZK for the castle
Prices vary between 40 CZK – 150 CZK for the Zoo
Children below the age of 3 years old: free for both castle and the zoo
