Wonderland Academy is a primary school that uses a unique concept of bilingual teaching in the Czech Republic. Mathematics, Natural Science, as well as Art and Physical Education, are always taught by a pair of teachers, a Czech and a native English speaker, who work together to ensure effective use of both languages. Bilingual communication is possible throughout the whole school day, as native English speakers also participate in afternoon activities. The school curriculum is based on a Czech curriculum where the children learn all about the Czech Republic, its history, culture, and language.
The pupils include native Czechs, bilingual children, and foreign pupils who have attended a Czech pre-school prior to starting primary school. The school strives to create a quiet, stress-free environment, focusing on the development of the individual skills of each pupil. This is easily achievable due to the low number of children in each class.
The school building is in a quiet location in the district of Libuš, Prague. It has undergone a thorough reconstruction and offers its students bright, airy classrooms equipped with modern furniture, interactive boards, and engaging learning aids. There is also a school canteen, sports hall, library, relaxation zone with reading corner, an art room, an ICT room, and a spacious assembly hall with audiovisual equipment. The school garden, which includes a sports playground, has several outdoor game elements and offers children ample space for afternoon relaxation.
