Where: Rudolfinum, Praha 1 – Staré Město, Alšovo nábřeží 79/12, 110 00
Other Details: There are not so many events targeted at the development of the topic, such as the historical roots of a certain country and its contemporary perceptions. However, the following event which is a unique audiovisual exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Czech origin covers namely this topic. The title of this project is “My Homeland-close up and loud” which emphasizes a unique approach of artists in depicting the nationalistic spirit. In order to convey the attitude towards the home country, artists came up with an idea to create a multimedia installation which includes the elements of architecture, design, classical music, and fine arts. If you visit the exhibition, you will have an opportunity to witness an exceptional construction which is covered with nine full HD surfaces chaotically placed in a darkened space. Those surfaces in their turn attract everyone with 25 minutes long video fragments symbolizing the characteristics of Czechs national identity. What is more thrilling, the whole exhibition will be accompanied by the legendary pieces of well-known Czech composers, such as Bedřich Smetana (Vltava) and Leoš Janáček (Sinfonietta).
The whole program of the exhibition can be divided into two parts, i.e. the representation of an outstanding beauty of Czech nature via the usage of Bedřich Smetana’s Vltava and the symbolization of the art development throughout years based on Janáček’s Sinfonietta. In general, the uniqueness of the project lies in the creative juxtaposition of audio and visual effects at the same time. It implies that by seeing the features of abstractionism, functionalism, cubism in screens’ paintings and by listening famous Czech compositions, the visitors will be able to build their own interpretation of Czech history.
