About the Castle:
The barely visible remains of Zuvačov’s castle, also called Komňa or Hrádek, lie on the Moravian-Slovak border. From the point of view of ordinary tourists, in this case, it is more of a walk through the beautiful nature of Moravian Slovácko.
About 1.5 km east of the village of Komňa, on the top of a hill (elevation 418.7 m above sea level) stood the Gothic castle Zuvačov, which was already listed as desolate in 1517. At the top of the hill is a platform with a diameter of about 30 m, which has on its western edge above the access road about 6 meters elevated place – the rest of the tower. A moat passes around the entire fortified settlement 17 meters below, which is quite clogged with fallen stones in the north and south, so its depth is not great (2-3 meters). The castle was built of quarry stone. The tourist route leads from Komno, Bojkovice or Nezdenice.
Zuvačov Castle stood at the end of the Hrádek watchtower (521 m above sea level) stretching from Mikulčina vrch and Lopeník to Bojkovice in the central part of the White Carpathians. In the west, there used to be a small fort with buildings of an economic nature which was constructed using wood. The fort was protected on three sides by a moat and a rampart, which adjoins the massive rampart surrounding the core on the eastern side. Between it and the upper castle, a circular moat almost 12 meters wide was dug. The core fortifications, as well as its main buildings, were built of stone. The completely extinct palace can be assumed by the perimeter wall on the north and northeast side. The south-west of the courtyard of the core was filled with wood-clay buildings. At a distance of about 30 meters west of the fort, you can still see the relics of the damaged fortification of a round floor plan, probably the advanced fortifications.
