On a cold and dull winter afternoon, with nothing interesting to do, we decided to go check out the Noah’s Ark exhibition at the Národní muzeum in Prague. Surprisingly the museum was indeed quite crowded with families and children. The exhibition is far more impressive than what I expected, and also very child friendly.
You can purchase a family ticket for 170 czk. It includes two adults and two children. The exhibition hosts a large species of taxidermied animals, which was very fascinating for my five-year-old. Kids can look at Pythons, Tigers, turtles, Cheetahs, Yaks, Polar bears and even a Dinosaur skeleton from close quarters. My son loved the arthropod section which was complete with spiders, beetles, butterflies and even giant crabs. Although I felt that the exhibition is indeed specifically interesting for young kids with their parents, we did see quite a few teenagers and older children.
The exhibits are placed around a large ship like structure resembling the Noah’s Ark which makes it all the more intriguing. It is a great place to spend a couple of interesting hours with kids indoors.
Noah’s Ark is a long term exhibition and will be on till May 5 this year. It is hosted in the new building of the Narodni Muzeum, Prague 1. There are good facilities with toilets, change stations and also a children’s play area where kids can draw, play puzzle or even ride a virtual Ark. The staff are friendly, helpful and English speaking!
