Nativity Scenes From Folk Carvers of Orlické hory

Details: The exhibition showcases the traditional works of folk carvers from the Orlické Mountains and its’ foothills. The people in the mountains were always close to the woods, on long winter evenings, they carved out of wood not only the products of daily use but also beautiful figures for nativity scenes. At least two of the cribs in the exhibition are mechanical.
The Museum of Nativity Scenes in Třebechovice is a professional workplace specialising in documentation of static and mechanic cribs. The museum is the only institution of its kind in the Czech Republic. The nativity scene of Třebechovice is a unique work of a peasant Josef Probošt (1849-1926), a woodcarver Josef Kapucián (1841-1908) and a woodworker Josef Friml (1861-1946).
The whole crib including the mechanism was made of wood more than one hundred years ago and consists of more than 2000 carved pieces.
Opening hours: The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, 9:00 to 16:30 hours. Last admission at 16:00 hours. Price of Family ticket 2 adults + 2 Children 200 CZK.
How to get here: The town is situated about 20 kms away from Hradec Kravlove and 140 kms from Prague. It is easily accessible via car or public train from Prague station, or Bus from Hradec Kralove.
