Throughout the history, there were numerous inventions and discoveries which helped and served to make people’s lives more convenient. One of those inventions that deserve separate attention are the means of vehicles since they made it possible to get any destination in the shortest possible time. At the end of the 19th century, after the first practical automobile was made by German inventor, Karl Benz the technology started to reach different achievements and grow with various improvements. Thus, in order to understand what features were characteristic to the technology of the particular time, figure out what triggered the launch of famous car brands and what made them special at National Technical Museum, Prague.
The museum was founded in 1908 and it is well-known for its rich and unique collection of items and vehicles in the technology field. The museum encompasses two different types of exhibits, i.e. shorter-term and permanent exhibits. The extensive collection of permanent exhibits covers the categories, such as Architecture, Astronomy, Construction and Design, Transportation, Household appliances, Metallurgy, Photo studio and many others. One of the significant and memorable exposition among aviation is the aircraft Bleriot system JK Kaspar which was granted by the Czech aviator and engineer, Jan Kašpar. In 1911 he achieved to perform one of his long-distance flights in Czech aeronautics history namely on this airplane which highlights its importance. Besides airplanes, you can also witness the collection of different types and brands of automobiles, motorcycles, horse-drawn railways which encourages to feel the spirit of the specific time period. For example, you can see the first auto that was designed or the first race car, i.e. NW 12 HP that was made in the Czech Republic.
The exhibition is definitely worth your time and attention so you can both enjoy and know something new from the history of technology.
