Magical Waterfalls

Often during the hot summers we want to get away from the heat and go outside the crowded city, somewhere in the nature. Here are a few ideas for day trips to a number of beautiful waterfalls: a perfect way to spend quality time with the whole family in the wonderful Czech nature.

Rešov Waterfalls

Rešov waterfalls, located a few hours outside of Prague, have been a national reserve since 2013. Going through the Nízký Jeseník Mountains, the Huntava River forms a number of beautiful waterfalls. Apart from the waterfalls surrounded by beech trees, you will also see the canyon, different rock formations, streams, ferns and mosses. On the way you will see the abandoned Rešov Castle. You can walk through the park, or take a bike. There is a restaurant in the nearby village, Rešov, where you can rest and have a snack. 

How to get there:
By car: go onto Route D11.
The trip should last for about three and a half hours. There is a parking lot available.

Mumlava waterfalls

Located in the Western part of the Giant mountains, close to the city of Harrachov, you will find the 12 m high Mumlava waterfalls, one of the largest in the Czech Republic. You will also see the Devil’s eye in the riverbed of the river, a unique formation 6 meters in diameter. You can hike along the river following the marked hiking trails, observe the beautiful nature, and then stop by to get some refreshments in the nearby Mumlavska Bouda or Srub U Lišáka restaurants.

How to get there:
By car: take Route 65. The trip should last for about 2 hours.
Please note that there is no parking lot so you should park outside the waterfall area and then walk.

Bubovice Waterfalls

The Bubovice waterfalls are part of the national reserve Karlštejn, which has been a protected area since 1955. Hidden in the reserve’s forests, the waterfalls and the surrounding area are a wonderful combination of unique vegetation, ponds, streams and captivating views. The place is perfect for a hike in the nature as the path leading to the lake is short and easy even for smaller children.

How to get there:
By car: take Route D5 and then turn left towards the Srbsko (Serbia) village, where you can park your car and get onto the yellow tourist route.
By train: from Prague Smíchov to Serbia stop.
The waterfall is 3km away from Serbia village.
